1. Introduction
SKYLOQ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use the SKYLOQ mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
By using SKYLOQ, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Pilot profile data — your home base, target role, current role, bio, certifications, and career goals that you enter into the app
- Flight log data — flight hours, aircraft types, dates, and remarks you log within the app
- AI conversation data — messages you send to the SKYLOQ Assistant and responses generated
- User-generated content — posts, comments, likes, and shared content you create or interact with in the community feed
- Profile photo — if you choose to upload a profile photo, it is stored and displayed publicly to other SKYLOQ users
- Social connections — your connections, followers, and following relationships with other users on the platform
- Direct messages — private messages you send to or receive from other users through the in-app messaging feature
- Content interactions — posts you save, hide, or report, and jobs you bookmark
- Usage data — how you interact with the app, features used, and session information
- Crash and diagnostic data — device type, OS version, app version, and crash reports collected automatically to help us identify and fix bugs
- Payment information — subscription status and billing period (payment card details are processed by Stripe and never stored by SKYLOQ)
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the SKYLOQ Service
- Personalize your AI assistant responses based on your flight log and career goals
- Generate AI-powered insights and goal recommendations
- Display your profile, posts, and activity to other users in accordance with your visibility settings
- Deliver your community feed, showing content from pilots you follow and connect with
- Suggest other pilots you may know through our networking features
- Surface aviation job listings relevant to your profile and career goals
- Send notifications about activity related to your posts, connections, and messages
- Process subscription payments via our payment processor, Stripe
- Send you important updates about the Service or your account
- Respond to your support requests
- Enforce our community standards and review reported content
- Detect and prevent fraud or misuse
- Diagnose and fix technical issues using crash and diagnostic data
4. AI and third-party services
SKYLOQ uses artificial intelligence services to power the assistant, insights, and goal recommendations. Your conversation data and profile information may be processed by our AI providers (including Anthropic and Google) to generate responses. These providers are bound by their own data processing agreements and privacy policies.
We also use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database storage, file storage, hosting, and crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing
- Algolia — search indexing and query processing for pilots and community posts
- OpenAI — generation of vector embeddings used to power AI knowledge retrieval
- Pinecone — vector database for AI knowledge retrieval
- RapidAPI / JSearch — aviation job listing aggregation; job data is fetched from public job boards and stored in our database to populate the Flight Opportunities screen
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share your data only in the following circumstances:
- With third-party service providers as described above, solely to operate the Service
- With other SKYLOQ users — your display name, profile photo, bio, and public posts are visible to other signed-in users. Posts marked as "public" are visible to all users; posts set to "connections only" are visible to your connections. Direct messages are visible only to the participants in that conversation.
- If required by law, court order, or government authority
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of SKYLOQ or our users
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided to you
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. AI conversation threads are automatically archived after 45 days of inactivity. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@skyloq.app.
When you delete a post or comment, it is marked as inactive and removed from public view immediately. Residual data may be retained in our systems for up to 30 days before permanent deletion, except where retention is required for legal or safety purposes.
Direct messages are retained for the duration of your account. If you delete your account, your messages will be removed from your view; however, copies may remain in the recipient's message history until their account is also deleted or until our standard deletion cycle completes.
7. User-generated content and community features
SKYLOQ includes community features that allow you to create and share content with other users. By posting content on SKYLOQ, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and distribute that content within the Service for the purpose of operating the platform.
You are responsible for the content you post. You must not post content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or that violates the rights of others. Please review our Terms of Service for the full list of community standards.
Content visibility is controlled by the settings you choose at the time of posting:
- Public — visible to all signed-in SKYLOQ users
- Connections only — visible only to users you are connected with
Your profile information, including your display name, bio, home base, and profile photo, is visible to all signed-in users to support networking and discovery features.
8. Content moderation
SKYLOQ provides tools to help keep the community safe:
- Reporting — you can report posts that violate our community standards. Reports are reviewed by our team and appropriate action will be taken.
- Hiding content — you can hide posts from your feed without reporting them.
- Blocking users — you can block other users, which prevents them from seeing your content or interacting with you on the platform.
We review reported content and reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate our Terms of Service. We do not guarantee that all harmful content will be identified or removed.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including Firebase security rules, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's privacy
SKYLOQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. You may also opt out of non-essential communications at any time. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at support@skyloq.app.
12. EU/EEA users
SKYLOQ is a US-based service focused on the US aviation market. If you access SKYLOQ from the European Union or European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:
- The right to data portability — to receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
- The right to restrict processing of your data
- The right to object to processing based on legitimate interests
- The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
Our legal basis for processing your data is the performance of our service contract with you and our legitimate interest in operating the platform. All data is transferred to and processed in the United States. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@skyloq.app.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
